We’re over the moon to introduce to the fold, Mont’Albano’s Prosecco Spumante Brut. An already respected and coveted brand for Dhall & Nash, Mont’Albano’s Pinot Grigio, Nero d’Avola and Montepulciano are all super approachable and food-friendly drops, so rounding out the range with their Prosecco Spumante DOC Brut is not just a logical step, but a pre-destined one.
Meet Mont’Albano
There was once an ancient inscription carved in stone, along the dirt road that once linked Reggello to Florence, that read:
“Thou traveler who comes from afar, stop and taste the blissful wine at Montalbano Farm.”
That stone was swept away to widen the original road, but, even today, the elderly of the area still remember it and carry its words in their tales of wisdom.
So while it’s known the area has always been predestined to make great wine, it’s current iteration that we know today was established in 1985 in the heart of the Friuli Venezia Giulia region. In an interesting move for the time, the new proprietor Mauro Braidot decided to convert all 5 hectares of vines into certified organic viticulture. The company did not take long to grow, thanks to its philosophy and its excellent wines from Friuli.
In addition to its own grapes, it began processing grapes grown by other producers, provided by trusted regional producers who respect the strict guidelines that Mont’Albano puts in place, so as to feel confident to put its name on its products.
In 2008, Mont’Albano became part of the ‘Sartori di Verona’ group – by combining its expertise in organic production with the experience of the historic Verona-based winery, which had already been engaged for some years in an organic viticulture project, the product range was expanded to allow the Mont’Albano brand to offer wines from the Veneto to its customers, as well as wines from Abruzzo and Sicily.
Today, Fattoria Mont’Albano spans 25 acres within a protected game reserve. The three large vineyards produce the highest quality fruit.
“Ethics as the focal point of our work. Respect: the true nature of organic. Organic cultivation preserves the territory without changing its appearance, it prefers manual work to mechanical to produce a healthy and intact product. It uses energy alternatives such as water, wind and solar and does not force production so as to always have fertile soil also for future years, and to have a product that is not only of label but of essence.”
