Hawkshead Wines Riesling

Hawkshead Pinot Gris 2023 Central Otago

A classic expression of Otago Gris with flavours of white fleshed fruits, some citrus peel and spice qualities. The mineral side of the wine shows as stone and schist-like flavours, then a touch of preserved lemon and white florals. There might be a whisper of residual sweetness yet the core fruit flavours and acidity easily contrast this aspect adding texture and length on the palate. Best drinking from 2023 through 2026. Hawkshead Wines Pinot Blanc

Hawkshead Riesling 2023 Lowburn, Single Vineyard

Delicious. Aromas and flavours of white peach and lemon, there’s a yellow and white blossoms quality with a seam of stone and clay minerality. A white spice from the fruit and site along with a backbone of acidity and contrasting residual sweetness stretches the flavours and textures across the palate seamlessly. Well made in a an off-dry expression with best drinking from day of purchase through 2029. Review by Cameron Douglas
